You are currently viewing There’s Still Time to Join the Fight – 2023 Eastern Connecticut Heart Walk

The American Heart Association’s (AHA) Eastern Connecticut Heart Walk, held annually to help fund research and education in the fight against heart disease and stroke, is just days away. On October 1, 2023, Electric Boat (EB) employees, friends and family will join together and walk at UConn’s Avery Point Campus.

EB has a long tradition of supporting the AHA, and each year, employees continue that tradition by forming teams and fundraising for the Heart Walk. As of today, EB has surpassed the 26 teams formed in 2022, and has already rallied 35 teams of walkers. As expressed in a video message from Andrew Bond, EB’s Vice President of Planning and 2023 Heart Walk Chair, “Together we can make a difference, one step at a time.”

“The reason to walk looks different for each walker,” said Andrew. This year, I walk because the American Heart Association’s programs and research helped save the lives of both my parents and both my in-laws over this past year. This year, my family and I will be walking because we know that with every step, we will be saving lives.”

All employees are invited to form a team, join a team or donate to an existing team in support of this important cause. However you wish to participate, you can visit the Electric Boat Heart Walk Page to help EB reach our fundraising goal for the AHA.

Employees who sign up to walk on an EB team will receive a 2023 EB Heart Walk t-shirt to wear the day of the event. Upon joining an EB team, you will be prompted to select your shirt size. You can pick up your EB Heart Walk shirt at the Heart Walk on October 1. As an added bonus, the 2023 Heart Walk is a qualifying activity for It All Counts this year. Employees who sign up to walk and check in at the EB table the day of the event will be counted.

For those who have signed up to walk with us, please see the UConn Avery Point Campus Parking Map and Course Map. The EB photo is scheduled to be taken at the Electric Boat Tent at 8:48 a.m. All EB teams should do their best to be at the tent at this time to be included in this year’s photo.

Thank you to all who have joined in this effort! Together, we can make a difference.
