In an effort to increase safety at Electric Boat’s Groton shipyard, two speed tables are being installed across Eastern Point Road this week. The tables, a few inches tall and marked with yellow stripes, are designed to slow vehicle traffic in an area frequented by pedestrians.
The first speed table crosses Eastern Point Road just south of the South Gate, in front of Building 88. A second table will lie north of the Main Gate to slow cars approaching the pedestrian crosswalk. The City of Groton is installing the safety fixtures.
EB employees are reminded to be courteous, exercise caution and follow speed limits when driving through the surrounding neighborhoods. Please respect no-parking zones on adjacent streets. Pedestrians should use crosswalks and refrain from using mobile electronic devices while transiting EB property.
EB firefighters recognized for life-saving rescues
