EB President Jeff Geiger today announced two leadership appointments. John Sedor has been appointed Director of Construction for the Columbia program and Harold Haugeto will assume Sedor’s previous position as Director of Groton Operations.
John Sedor was named Director of Construction for the Columbia program, reporting to Will Lennon. In this newly-created role, he will direct program preparation, coordination, and execution efforts related to all aspects of Columbia Program construction, including missile tubes, UK kits, submarine modules, and final assembly.
Sedor has nearly 30 years of experience at EB, predominantly on the Groton waterfront. Most recently, he served as Director of Operations. Prior to being named Director of Planning in October of 2007, he was Ship Manager of SSN 776 Hawaii. He began his career in 1988 as an Operations Supervisor and graduate of the CD program.
John holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering, and Engineering & Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Harold Haugeto was named Director of Groton Operations, reporting to Jim Gildart. In this role, Haugeto will manage the continued production and on-time delivery of Virginia-class submarines. Reporting to Haugeto will be the Piping, Steel, and Pipe Welding Trades.
Haugeto began his career at Electric Boat in 1997 as a Fluid Systems Engineer and was promoted Engineering Supervisor of the department in 2003. He transferred to the Virginia Class Program Office Design and Engineering group in 2006 and was promoted to Ship’s Manager of the SSN-782 in 2009. In 2012, Harold became the Operations Manager of the Groton Steel Trades, later focusing on the Groton Pipe Welders.
Haugeto earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Marine Engineering Systems from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a Veteran, serving 13 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Haugeto is also a graduate of EB’s Business Leader Program (BLG-3).
“EB needs leaders like Sedor and Haugeto, who have proven their dedication and support in the production and delivery of high-quality submarines to the U.S. Navy. As the Virginia and Columbia programs progress, and in this time of rapid growth and production, exceptional leadership is necessary,” said Geiger.
In his latest Rayha Report, EB President Mark Rayha speaks with Chief of Talent Acquisition Meredith Kyle on the ways the company is boosting operations leadership hiring. Joining them is Konrad Wennberg and Mike Simmons, who provide insight on their internal moves from engineering to operations supervisor positions.
