Early Sunday morning, a devastating fire occurred at T
he Ledges Apartments in Groton. Eighteen fire departments, including Electric Boat’s, responded. Thanks to the heroism of these first responders no residents were injured. The fire did, however, displace more than approximately 50 residents and destroyed or damaged 44 units in the building. Several EB employees were among the residents affected, with many losing access to their homes and belongings.
To support our neighbors who have been affected, we encourage employees who are able to donate through Groton Human Services, which is coordinating relief efforts with the American Red Cross. Donations of food, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, gift cards or monetary contributions can be dropped off at Groton Human Services, 2 Fort Hill Road, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Monday. They can also be reached at 860‑441‑6760 or humanser@groton-ct.gov for additional information.
We know the EB community is strong and compassionate, and your support will make a meaningful difference for those facing a challenging time.
