You are currently viewing July 12, 2021 – EB Benefits; Financial Wellness Poster Series

Over the last eight weeks, Electric Boat’s Benefits team provided weekly communications via email, handouts and EBTV as part of their new  “Financial Wellness Friday” campaign. The purpose of the financial wellness campaign was to give employees more information about the tools, articles, webinars, and calculators Fidelity has to offer to help keep personal finances on track.

To help employees visualize how a retirement account grows, a poster series is on display in the Groton shipyard this week showing the journey of Ryan, a fictional EB new-hire. Ryan is non-pension eligible and is taking full advantage of the 6% company match. He contributes 6% of his pay each week and EB matches dollar-for-dollar on the first 6% as well. The poster series illustrates how quickly Ryan’s 401k grows over 20 years.

If you are not contributing 6% to your 401k (or other retirement account such as an IRA), you’re leaving money from EB on the table. It’s understandable that not every budget can make this designation, but take advantage of Fidelity’s budgeting advice to see if you can move a few things around or cut back on extra expenses to meet that 6%. Prioritizing your financial future will ensure you will be secure in retirement.

If you want personalized planning and advice for your retirement account, call Fidelity today (888-432-3633) and ask to speak to a 401k specialist.

The 401k poster series will be displayed at both the main and south gates in Groton, in King’s Highway, Eagle Park, New London, and Quonset Point (both sides).
