L-R: Mikhel Pagan, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut Program Specialist; Lauren Knapp, Engineer Senior – Systems; and Ashleigh Jacobs, Engineer I - Mechanical
We are proud to celebrate Lauren Knapp for being named a recipient of the prestigious Victoria Soto Memorial Award, presented by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut. This recognition highlights Lauren’s exceptional commitment to mentorship, community engagement and making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
The Victoria Soto Memorial Award honors individuals who embody the compassion, courage and dedication to youth that defined Victoria Soto’s legacy. Lauren’s work as a mentor reflects these values in action every day.
Lauren received this honor on April 25, 2026, during Big Night, a celebration of mentorship, connection and community, held in Hartford. The event brought together mentors, supporters and community leaders to recognize the powerful impact of one-to-one mentoring relationships.
Lauren accepts her award at Big Night
Lauren serves as a “Big” at Stanton Elementary School in Norwich, where she has built a strong, consistent relationship with her “Little,” Zayn. Through regular visits, she provides encouragement, guidance and a dependable presence that supports her mentee’s growth both academically and personally.
In a recent feature with WTNH News 8, Lauren shared that mentorship is rooted in consistency and care, “just being there” for someone who needs support. She also noted that the experience is deeply meaningful on both sides, saying it “means just as much” to her as it does to her mentee. Her impact has been widely recognized, with community members describing her as “a role model” who positively influences those around her.
Lauren’s dedication reflects the spirit of service that defines our organization. Her commitment to giving back and investing in the next generation is an inspiring example of how we can all make a difference in our communities.
Please join us in congratulating Lauren on this well-deserved honor and thanking her for representing our organization with such purpose and heart.
