Electric Boat’s second annual Connecticut High School Signing Day was held on May 31 for students from Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts who will be starting careers at EB Groton after they graduate. Hosted at Ella T. Grasso Technical High School, the signing day celebrated 166—and growing—new shipbuilders, welcoming them aboard and congratulating them on pursuing a rewarding career at Electric Boat.

Emil Casciano, Vice President of Nuclear Operations and Fleet Support, welcomed the new shipbuilders, followed by Command Master Chief (CMC) Josh Sturgill, EB’s union presidents Bill Louis, Marine Draftsmen’s Association Local 571 (MDA); Peter Baker, Metal Trades Council of New London County (MTC) and Gerald Renaud, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBCJA) Local 1302; along with video comments from Sen. Murphy, Sen. Blumenthal and Rep. Courtney. In the presence of their proud family members and loved ones, each student was invited on stage to receive a certificate and hard hat color-coded to their trade.

Electric Boat has more than doubled the number of high school graduates accepting positions with EB straight out of school. We are excited to welcome this next-generation talent to the team and look forward to seeing them on the deckplate. Thank you to the educators at our partner schools for their support and for doing such a great job preparing these students for a career in shipbuilding at EB.
