On Monday, June 10, Electric Boat hosted the 3rd annual Chili Cook-Off Contest in New London. The fundraiser, organized by Eleanor Davis, is held each year in celebration of the Wear Blue for Men’s Health campaign.
This year, 11 employees submitted their chili recipes and cooked a batch for others to judge. For a $5.00 donation, employees were able to vote for their top 3 recipes, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. There were also 5 management judges, who similarly chose their top 3 recipes. Management votes were worth 50 points each. To make the votes official, EB’s Security department was asked to tally the results.
Rick Davis and Alonzo Combs tied for first place, both receiving 264 votes. In second place was Paul Basilica with 196 votes, and in third place, Jonathan Picard with 171 votes. The top three cooks were awarded with trophies.
Congratulations to the winners and all of this year’s cook-off participants, and thank you to Eleanor Davis, who provided the aprons, hats, paper goods and trophies for the event.
