Electric Boat was recently presented with the ‘Premier Partner of the Decade 2017’ award by leaders from the American Red Cross. Between 2007 and 2017, Electric Boat employees donated 12,747 pints of blood, impacting the lives of 38,241 individuals in need.
Michael Chaplo, Vice President of Biomedical Services at the American Red Cross delivered the award, offering his gratitude towards Electric Boat. “We are so thankful for all you do —employees literally roll up their sleeves and they help,” said Chaplo. “There is no substitute for donated blood—it has to be on the shelf at all times.”
Chaplo was joined by several CT Red Cross personnel: Lynne Phillips, CT District Manager; Trish Sablitz, Director of Donor Recruitment and Jennifer Gartsu, Account Manager. Accepting the award on behalf of Electric Boat was President Jeff Geiger.
“This is just one element of support and generosity that Electric Boat employees provide to our community,” said Geiger. “They take advantage of opportunities to help whenever they can.”
Following the award presentation, the group discussed how Electric Boat can strengthen its partnership with the Red Cross, as part of the company’s efforts to promote overall health and wellness. Ideas discussed included promoting and offering training programs, such as CPR and First Aid to EB employees and their families.
Joining the Red Cross and Mr. Geiger at this meeting were Maura Dunn, VP Human Resources; Al Ayers, Director of Health, Wellness and Disability Benefits; Dr. Robert Hurley, Medical Director; Gail Cole, Wellness Coordinator; Michael Jensen, Fitness Director and Fitness Center staff, Tracie Tenety and Katie Perkins.
This award serves as a reminder of the strides we at Electric Boat take to promote the health, wellness, and safety of all, both inside and outside of the company.
