Electric Boat Joins Regional Leaders for Military Appreciation Breakfast
Electric Boat employees joined military and community leaders for the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut’s annual Military Appreciation Breakfast on Sept. 30 at Ocean Beach Park’s Port ‘N’ Starboard. The event provided more than 120 complimentary seats to active-duty service members from the Navy, Coast Guard and Connecticut National Guard.
General Dynamics Electric Boat has served as the lead sponsor of the event since its inception 15 years ago. Seventeen EB employees attended this year’s breakfast; all were veterans.
Ray Gabriel, EB’s vice president of Strategic Operations, speaks at the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut’s annual Military Appreciation Breakfast on Sept. 30 at Ocean Beach Park’s Port ‘N’ Starboard.
Ray Gabriel, EB’s vice president of Strategic Operations and a 32-year U.S. Navy veteran, delivered remarks highlighting southeastern Connecticut’s long tradition of military service and EB’s continuing support for service members, veterans and their families.
Gabriel noted EB’s ongoing work with transitioning service members through TAP classes, career fairs, and its robust participation in the Pentagon’s SkillBridge program—hiring more than 50 interns in 2026 and over 100 in the last three years. He also recognized the company’s goal of hiring more than 800 veterans this year, a milestone EB is on track to meet.
He emphasized that community engagement is central to EB’s mission. The company supports programs including the Military Appreciation Day 5K, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Fund, the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation, the Groton Navy Ball, the Submarine Force Museum’s annual clambake and the L.Y. Spear Foundation, which honors graduates of the Subase Naval Submarine School. EB employees, including members of the Electric Boat Veterans Network (EBVN), volunteer regularly at local VFWs, SubVETS, and even at the homes of local veterans needing assistance.
“What strengthens the military strengthens this community—and Electric Boat is proud to stand with both,” Gabriel said.
