You are currently viewing A Message from Beth Rafferty: Parking Update – P Lot

I am pleased to announce that the issues which arose over the past weekend and delayed the availability of new parking capacity for the Groton shipyard are now resolved.  With those hurdles behind us, I am very excited to finally launch the new “P Lot” EB parking location beginning Monday, February 23.

The new P Lot is located on Shennecossett Road in Groton and is a segregated part of the Pfizer campus.  To maximize parking as quickly as possible, we worked with Pfizer to install temporary fencing that forms the perimeter of our leased lot, which currently contains roughly 400 open parking spaces. This layout will be modified and expanded as our landlord upgrades the lot to a more permanent condition, increasing capacity to roughly 700 parking spaces (expected this Spring or as weather permits).

To enter the P Lot, you must approach from the South. This is a specific request from our landlord, and is intended to mitigate risk of traffic congestion in the area. The map below provides the best route from Clarence B Sharp Hwy / I-95 to the P Lot. When traveling to this lot employees are reminded to be respectful of the community and obey all traffic ordinances. The spaces currently available for our use are outlined in yellow on the map below. The updated bus schedule, effective 2/23/2026, is provided below and the bus pick-up location is located near the entrance of the lot.

As a reminder, this parking lot is part of Pfizer’s campus and employees should not wander outside of the designated area. Employees must follow the following regulations:

  • Do not enter Pfizer’s main Security Entrance; entrance to the parking lot is through the back gate identified on the map
  • Smoking, vaping, e-cigarettes etc. are prohibited on the property
  • Parking is limited to cars and light trucks; heavy equipment vehicles are prohibited

For any questions regarding these regulations, please contact Jim Waldron at (860) 433-4842.

With the addition of the P Lot and Crystal Mall parking, we have sufficient parking capacity to accommodate our current Groton occupants as well as projected near-term growth.  We continue to strive to provide the most convenient parking/transportation options possible while developing our long-term solutions to accommodate peak demand.  However, our workforce needs to understand and expect that not all parking options will be within walking distance of the facility.

With the previous strains on parking, the worst of which peaked after the recent storm, the behavior in our parking lots has degraded to an unacceptable level.  Please understand that this behavior will not be tolerated, and parking regulations will be enforced.  We value our employees and would prefer to see personal accountability over punitive action as we work together to reverse this trend.  Therefore, I ask every employee to be respectful of their colleagues by parking only in their designated lots and spaces.

Please refer to MDP-01533 for the parking areas that require a parking pass.
