On April 30, I shared the Navy’s intention to award Electric Boat a significant contract modification designed to accelerate our Columbia-class and Virginia-class program performance through wage enhancements and infrastructure investments. I am delighted to confirm that we have won this significant contract.
Today, I am pleased to introduce EB Now—our company-wide initiative to deliver the submarines that meet this critical moment in history. I invite you to watch a discussion between me and EB Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer Rocco Cavalieri to learn more about what this means to the company and to your work. Rocco helped lead our team in close to 50 meetings over the last two years, as we worked with the Navy, the Congress, the White House, and our partners at Newport News Shipbuilding to get the resources needed to get us on track to deliver one Columbia-class and two Virginia-class submarines each year.
As an important first step in this initiative, our team is working to deliver enhanced wages into employee paychecks as quickly as possible. We anticipate that most employees will see these changes in their paychecks in the coming weeks.
My expectation is that the wage enhancements and shipyard investments associated with EB Now will serve as a catalyst to propel us to new levels of performance. The Navy and our nation are counting on us. EB Now is our call to action. I’m excited to work with you as we answer that call, just as EB has done every other time we’ve been called upon.
It was EB then. And it’s EB Now.
