The Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) STEM Conference is held annually to recognize the contributions of individuals who are innovators and trailblazers in their professional careers related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). For 38 years, the BEYA STEM awards have continued to provide employers throughout the country with the opportunity to voice the accomplishments of minorities in STEM.
The Modern-Day Technology Leader Award is part of BEYA’s Outstanding Achievement Award category, and recognizes bright women and men who are shaping the future of engineering, science and technology.
Electric Boat (EB) is proud to announce that Jessica Key is one of BEYA’s 2024 Modern-Day Technology Leaders. In this brief video, Jessica shares what winning this award means to her, and why this recognition is significant to her and Electric Boat.
Jessica began her career at EB in 2014 as a buyer specialist, and due to her work ethic and leadership abilities, has been promoted to positions of greater responsibility. Currently the manager of supplier and workforce development, Jessica is highly respected among EB leadership as a keen strategic thinker who is capable of tackling large-scale business challenges in a measured and circumspect manner. Her strategic leadership has led to positive enterprise outcomes, including the development and implementation of multiple programs and processes that directly impact the strategic position of EB across multiple technical and non-technical functions. Jessica has led the development, test and implementation of large-scale critical supply base assessment, suite of risk analysis and mitigation tools, along with adult and youth workforce development programs among other important projects. She has directly impacted the methodology by which EB drives many daily business decisions, acquisition strategies and technical outcomes. Jessica is a graduate of Business Leader Group (BLG) 10, and is a key proponent and supporter of many EB employee resource groups (ERGs), attending several of their events for enjoyment and also supporting and working their various outreach events.
The BEYA Technology Recognition Ceremony is taking place on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD, where Jessica and other BEYA Outstanding Achievement Award winners will be recognized for their continuous hard work and success. General Dynamics (GD) will hold a separate ceremonial dinner on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum to personally recognize winners from GD business units.
