Electric Boat has a long tradition of supporting the American Heart Association (AHA) and their mission of providing a healthier future for our communities. Through fundraising, research and education, the AHA saves lives across the country each and every day, encouraging all to join them in taking a stand against heart disease. Each year, the AHA’s annual Eastern Connecticut Heart Walk brings our region together to get people up and moving in support of this important mission.

The Eastern Connecticut Heart Walk is held to raise money for heart disease and stroke—the number one and number five leading causes of death in the United States. This initiative continues this year with the 2023 Eastern Connecticut Heart Walk, taking place on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at UConn’s Avery Point Campus. Andrew Bond, Vice President of Planning, was named Chairman again this year, and will proudly lead Electric Boat (EB) in our role as event sponsor.

Each year, Electric Boat’s fundraising efforts and presence at the Heart Walk solidifies our commitment to making a difference. EB employees support this tradition by forming teams and raising funds in support of the AHA and their lifesaving efforts. In 2022, EB employees formed 26 teams comprised of 164 walkers. Through their fundraising efforts, these teams raised over $25,000 for the AHA through donations from colleagues, family members and friends.

With registration for this year’s walk now open, EB is off to a strong start, having already formed 11 teams who have begun fundraising to meet this year’s goal of $27,000. All employees are invited and encouraged to join in this effort, whether it be joining or making a donation to an existing EB team, or creating your own team and inviting colleagues, friends and family members to hop on board. However you wish to participate, you can visit the Electric Boat Heart Walk Page to help us reach our goal. Every dollar raised goes to the AHA, because every dollar counts in this fight against cardiovascular diseases.

All employees who sign up to walk on October 1, whether you join or start your own EB-sponsored team, will receive a 2023 EB Heart Walk t-shirt to wear the day of the event. Shirts will be distributed prior to the walk. Please keep an eye out for future communications.

This year, as an added bonus, the Heart Walk will be counted as a qualifying activity for It All Counts, the Benefits and Wellness organization’s portion of the company-wide Employee Incentive Program. All employees who sign up to walk and check in at the EB table the day of the event will be counted for It All Counts.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for New Warehouse in North Stonington
