On Wednesday, August 27 (8.27), Ship Sponsor Dr. Kelly Geurts declared the keel for PCU Wisconsin, SSBN 827, “to be well and truly laid.” The keel laying event celebrates the ceremonial birth of the ship during which the ship’s sponsor welds her initials onto a plate that will later be affixed to the submarine.
