Connecticut is home to a qualified and productive workforce that produces a wide range of innovative, creative and cool products. The Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) compiled a list of 16 of these products for their Coolest Thing Made in Connecticut contest, and Electric Boat’s Virginia-class submarine is in the running!
The single-elimination, bracket-style contest kicked off on August 21 with the first round of voting. Throughout a total of four rounds, remaining products will compete head-to-head to determine the ultimate coolest thing, which will be announced at the Connecticut Manufacturing Summit on October 2, 2024.
Electric Boat employees know better than anyone how cool a Virginia-class submarine is. Why? Because you build them! Whether your role is to engineer, design, procure, weld, rig, ship-fit, insulate, hang pipe, run electrical systems, assemble, paint, test, certify or support the business, you create these world-class submarines to ensure our nation’s defense. It doesn’t get much cooler than that.
