The 26th Virginia-class submarine will be on display in Building 260

On Saturday, March 16, Electric Boat will host two separate events at the Groton shipyard: the christening of the submarine Idaho in the morning and an opportunity for employees and their families to view the exterior of Idaho in the afternoon.

This bulletin contains information about the Idaho viewing ONLY, and is separate from the christening ceremony ticket lottery.

  • Employees and three (3) immediate family members are invited to view the submarine Idaho (SSN 799), located in Building 260 in the Groton shipyard, on Saturday, March 16, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Entry gate will close promptly at 3:00 p.m.)
  • All EB parking lots will be open. Employees must wear their badge and act as escorts for their family members.
  • Entrance and exit will be through the Main Gate only.
  • Use of cameras or smartphones to take pictures will be allowed inside Building 260 ONLY. Photography while walking to and from Building 260 is strictly prohibited. Individuals who engage in photography outside of the event site in Building 260 risk having their device confiscated. Employees who violate this policy can face disciplinary action. Employees are responsible for the actions of their guests.

  • Website registration will open on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 11:00 p.m. EST and will close on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 11:00 p.m. EST.
  • You will receive a confirmation number after registration, but no tickets will be issued. Your badge will act as the entry pass for you and your family.
