Each year, the Connecticut Science Center honors individuals, businesses and non-profits in STEM who share their mission of pursuing innovation, education and excellence. The award selection is based on “overall contributions to STEM in the region, opening STEM careers to diverse audiences and impacts on STEM education in the community.”

Electric Boat (EB) was selected as a Connecticut Science Center STEM Achievement Award Honoree and named the Connecticut Science Center’s 2023 Innovator Organization. The award was presented at the Connecticut Science Center’s Gotham City-themed Gala on October 14, 2023, at the Connecticut Convention Center.

EB exceeded the award’s criteria based on the company’s consistent involvement with local schools and organizations on numerous STEM and manufacturing programs throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island. One example is EB’s Boat program, which introduces hundreds of young adults and other underrepresented populations to submarine construction and maritime manufacturing. Participants take part in STEM activities, events, career exploration, tours of EB’s facilities, career information sessions, internships and co-ops. Other initiatives involve public schools in Southeastern Connecticut and Providence, Rhode Island.
