Electric Boat and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 1302 (UBCJA), are proud to announce that an overwhelming majority of union members ratified a new, five-year collective bargaining agreement yesterday. With a high turnout rate, 88% of members voted in favor of ratification.
The agreement provides for significant increases in compensation and benefits that will help attract and retain employees, including:
- General wage increases for all UBCJA members, totaling 21.4% over the term of the contract.
- Retention and sign-on bonuses with the opportunity to earn up to $6,000.
- A one-time, $2,000 contribution to the employee’s 401k retirement account.
- A $1,000 ratification bonus.
- Continuation of a comprehensive, competitive medical plan with modest premium and deductible increases.
- Increases to vacation days and paid sick time for most members.
This agreement is effective tomorrow and creates new efficiencies that enable the construction of our critical submarines at a higher volume and velocity.
