The Workforce Development and Planning organizations recently partnered to host the 12th Planning Pipeline Program, preparing planners to join Electric Boat’s Planning organization. Workforce Development, along with Three Rivers Community College, hosted the graduation of Planning Pipeline Cohort 12 on May 19 at Grasso Technical High School in Groton. The recent graduates, now members of EB’s Planning organization, presented their final capstone project for an audience of Electric Boat employees from various areas within Planning.
In attendance, planners, along with their supervision, joined managers and directors to watch their new team members present a final project—the resulting culmination of a rigorous six-week training program. During these six weeks, the then-students learned a great deal about the Planning groups they were ultimately placed in. Along with developing fundamental skills needed to join the Planning organization, the students made invaluable connections with one another to take into the workplace.
The Planning Pipeline Program targets the following skills: Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Operations Management, Public Speaking, Intro to Software Applications, Intro to Programming, Principles of Macroeconomics, Composition, Technical Writing, Blueprint Reading and Safety in the Workplace.
Planning Cohort 12 was the third of eight cohorts that are scheduled for 2023. Photographed above are the 24 students who graduated from the program, including 12 Advance Planners, nine Detail Planners and three Production Control Planners. These 24 employees began their EB careers on May 23, 2023.
