On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, a series of coordinated attacks were carried out against the Twin Towers of downtown Manhattan’s World Trade Center and the Pentagon in Washington D.C., taking the lives of nearly 3,000 people, injuring over 6,000 and leaving a permanent impact on our nation. At 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m. and 10:03 a.m., we were consumed with an increasing sense of anger, loss and grief—feelings that will forever linger.

Today, 21 years later, the tragedy hits just as hard as we remember the fallen and wrestle with the emotions that can’t be forgotten. The impact of this tragedy is solidified by our ability to look back and recall exactly where we were and what we were doing when the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. On Monday, September 12, we ask that you observe a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. EST.

On September 11, we honor the fallen and the heroes who selflessly risked their lives to help others. We remember loved ones who were lost too soon and the many who continue to suffer from illness and injury related to the events.

In the midst of these memories, find a moment to take pride in what you do. Every day, each of us comes to work to build a product that protects a country of more than 300 million, and millions more around the world. No matter your role or our differences as individuals, we all share this responsibility and the pride that comes with it. This, in and of itself, pays tribute to the heroes of 9/11.
