Since its launch in September 2021, Electric Boat’s employee referral program, Referral Radar, has produced a steady flow of new hires. No one understands what it means to be a shipbuilder at EB better than current employees, whose referrals have proven to be the best source for bringing talent through the doors. In less than a year, telling your friends and family about career opportunities at EB has resulted in 3,843 referrals—779 of which have been hired. As we continue to work towards meeting hiring goals at Electric Boat, let’s keep that momentum going.
Refer a friend and win—it’s that simple. If you know someone looking for a job, tell them EB is hiring and encourage them to apply. If they do so and list you as the referral on their application, you’re entered into the raffle for a chance to win a prize. You can also directly refer someone by filling out the referral form. There is no limit on the number of people who can apply and list an employee as a referral, but the same person applying for different positions will count as only one referral.
Raffle prizes fall into two categories: Tier I and Tier II. If your referral applies for a position, you’re automatically in the running for the Tier II cash prize of $500; and if they apply and are hired, the $1,000 Tier I prize is up for grabs. For each referral you make, you receive one entry into the raffle. In addition to cash, there’s the potential for other special prizes to be thrown in the mix. Last October, an employee won two tickets to the Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers game.
To date, 42 cash prizes—21 Tier I and 21 Tier II—have been awarded to employees who have participated in the Referral Radar program. The total sum of these cash rewards is $33,500—$23,000 in Tier I awards and $10,500 in Tier II. These numbers will continue to rise as we randomly draw four names each month, two from each Tier category. Keep the referrals coming for your chance to win.
Thirty percent of our new hires come from employee referrals, which is not only an impressive number, but an important one. Hiring is critical to our ability to produce submarines for the U.S. Navy, and the first year of this program has proven the Electric Boat workforce knows the right candidates for the job. EB’s goal is to hire 3,900 employees this year alone, and your referrals are getting us closer to that goal.

Thank you for spreading the word and helping to bring talented employees aboard.
