On Tuesday, April 19 and Thursday, April 21, the Electric Boat Employees’ Community Services Association (EBECSA) will be hosting collections for Ukrainian relief in support of the United Way Worldwide Relief Fund—United for Ukraine. Through this relief fund, United Way is stepping up to provide short-term relief and long-term support for the nearly five million people who have been displaced by the violence in Ukraine, and the EBECSA is joining them in this effort to offer immediate support.
We’re asking employees, if able, to join our efforts and donate to help the men, women and children of Ukraine during this difficult time. All proceeds will go directly to the United Way and will assist in providing transportation, shelter, food, medicine, childcare supplies, hygiene kits and more. By donating to United Way, you’re supporting vetted, nonpartisan organizations on the ground who are providing vital help to those who need it most.
On April 19 and 21, collection volunteers will be stationed at the entrance of Connecticut EB locations (Groton, Long Hill Rd., New London, Shaw’s Cove and Eagle Park) for first-shift employees from roughly 5:45 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. For second-shift employees, volunteers will be stationed at the Groton Shipyard entrances only (main gate and North gate) at the beginning of second shift.
