You are currently viewing August 20, 2021 – Tropical Storm/Hurricane Henri

Tropical Storm Henri is expected to reach hurricane force by mid-afternoon Saturday with landfall in the area of the Connecticut-Rhode Island border Sunday night. A Hurricane Watch has been issued for most of Southern Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Electric Boat is monitoring weather conditions and hurricane preparations are underway.

We encourage everyone to monitor the track of the storm as it continues to evolve and prepare for heavy rains, significant wind and potential power outages.

With the approaching storm there is also increased risk for tornadoes. Please remain vigilant even after the height of the storm passes and seek shelter immediately if a warning is issued. For those mission-critical/essential employees who have been requested by their managers to be on site Sunday, please be aware of emergency notifications, including six short blasts of the shipyard whistle, and take shelter immediately.

Any change in status of the Groton or New London sites will be posted on the Electric Boat website www.gdeb.com and EB Landing. Please also stay tuned to EB’s social media channels including Twitter (@EBCMS) and EB’s Facebook page (General Dynamics Electric Boat).

Thank you and stay safe.
