PODCAST

Hi everyone, this is Kevin.  Today is Friday, January 8, and I want to spend a few minutes with you, giving you my perspective on some of the recent events we’ve seen over the last couple of days.

My perspective is this:

Our nation thrives because, for more than 2 centuries now, the hallmark of our democracy has been the peaceful transition of power and the role each of us plays in determining our future.

The kind of civil unrest we’ve seen recently is simply wrong.  There’s no other way to put it.  Because it seeks to disrupt that peaceful transition of power and ultimately, weaken our democracy.

As Americans, we have an obligation.  We must be active participants in our government and work together to fix those things we find objectionable through civil discourse and discussion, not violence and partisanship, and we must continue to work together to form that “more perfect union” our founders envisioned.

Now as American shipbuilders, we must remember our purpose – and that is to deliver the advantage that helps protect our sailors, our families and our freedoms.   That does not change.  That mission is unchanged – we must remain laser-focused on the important role the ships we deliver play in the defense of freedom.

So what I hope for all of us as we think and reflect on the lessons of this week, is that we move forward united in what I call our constancy of purpose and our continued belief that as shipbuilders, our focus on our noble mission will enable the defense of American freedom for generations to come.

Thanks for listening.
