The Electric Boat Management Association (EBMA), Black Engineering Council (BEC), Women in Defense (WID), Hispanic Shipbuilders Association (HSA) and the Electric Boat Employees’ Community Services Association (EBECSA) have teamed up to bring a Virtual Food Drive event, organized by KC101 and the Connecticut Food Bank, to Electric Boat in support of our community in response to COVID-19.

The food drive began on Monday, June 8, and will continue through June 15. Electric Boat employees can participate by dropping non-perishable food items in the collection boxes located throughout EB’s Groton and New London facilities. Some examples of non-perishable food items that are needed include peanut butter, pasta sauce, rice, beans, baby food, coffee and more. Employees can also place essential items in the donation bins, such as gloves, toilet paper and cleaning products, which will be packed and assembled by volunteers. If a donation box is full, please contact EB Transportation at (860) 433-4657.

Those who don’t have access to a donation box, or who would like to make a monetary donation, can do so virtually through the Connecticut Food Bank website. This link cannot be accessed on an EB asset, so employees will need to access the link from a personal device to make a donation.

As the community struggles with the hardships brought on by COVID-19, please consider taking this opportunity to lend a helping hand.  With many of us spending the majority of time at home, aside from work, now is the perfect time to clean out our pantries and cupboards to give what we don’t need to someone who does.
