You are currently viewing May 7, 2019 – Workforce Development Organization Launches New Onboarding Program

Electric Boat continues to hire to address our current backlog and future work.  To help new employees learn about the company and where they fit in it, the Workforce Development Organization recently introduced a new onboarding program.

“We took a look at how new employees were welcomed to the company and examined every step, from when they arrived at work on their first day to how they interacted with their co-workers and managers,” said Courtney Murphy, Director of Workforce Development.  “We believe the new program will provide a more comprehensive introduction to EB and help new employees see why they chose to come work here.”

The new program made its debut last week and 14 new employees participated.  Onboarding sessions will run regularly, in response to hiring activity. The completely redesigned orientation program provides an engaging, structured, and standardized approach to the first two days of work for all new Electric Boat employees. Through a series of interactive activities, including a virtual scavenger hunt, board game, and a supervisor meet and greet,  the two-day orientation will:

·         Introduce our purpose, values, expectations and how EB works
·         Provide new employees with an understanding of the importance of their role and how they contribute to EB’s success
·         Build relationships and start developing networks

Next week the Workforce development organization will be hosting orientation cafés to give current EB employees the opportunity to try out the virtual tour or the Electric Boat board game. All cafes will be from 11am-12:30pm. See the schedule for these events listed below. No shop order provided.

·         Kings Highway – Tuesday May 7
·         Groton 88 Cafeteria – Tuesday May 7
·         Eagle Park – Wednesday May 8
·         Groton Wet Dock Cafeteria – Wednesday May 8
·         New London Cafeteria – Thursday May 9
