You are currently viewing April 30, 2019 – Friendly Reminder: Please Drive Like a Good Neighbor

There are now more than 11,000 Electric Boat employees working in southeastern Connecticut spread across our facilities in Groton and New London.  As we grow, so does the impact we have on our local communities.

We regularly meet with local officials to talk about our growth.  Recently, these officials let us know that they have increased their traffic and parking enforcement efforts around EB facilities, in response to some comments and concerns from local residents.  Please review the following reminders, and help us maintain EB’s positive impact on our local communities. It’s important to remember that many of your co-workers live in the communities surrounding EB facilities.

  • Do not park in “No Parking” zones.
  • Be sure to observe posted speed limits.   In most cases around EB facilities, speed limits do not exceed 30 MPH.   In school zones, speed limits are usually 20 MPH.
  • Be mindful of pedestrian crosswalks.  With the warmer months coming, there will be more residents out walking and cycling, so please be observant.
  • Be especially careful when traveling in nearby residential neighborhoods.
  • Do not be a ‘distracted driver.’  Use of any hand-held device while driving, including texting, is illegal in Connecticut.
