Achieve 793 (PCU Oregon) Pressure Hull Complete
Pressure Hull Complete (PHC) is a very important milestone in the final assembly and test sequence—it’s the last hull butt before the ship is a “whole boat.” In the case for 793, this will be hull butt 5/6 and the associated work to build up and weld the reactor compartment passageway. This work is mainly performed by the steel trades organization.
This milestone is directly tied to a ship’s delivery, as it opens up a significant amount of work for all trades, particularly piping tie-ins, structural work and electrical cable splices. Upon completion of this work, post core hot operations and land-based steaming will commence, setting the stage for the 793 roll-out, initial criticality testing and the drive to fast cruise, sea trials and delivery.
To achieve this goal, team members need to execute the schedule cleanly, with first-time quality.
