On February 6, 2019, General Dynamics Electric Boat presented a corporate gift of $350,000 to the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut (UWSECT). Presenting the check on behalf of Electric Boat was Terry Fedors, Bob Tardif, Jeff Geiger, Ken Rowland, Kurt Hesch and Jim Gildart.
Sharon Peccini, Community Engagement Working Leader and Labor Engagement Senior Vice President of UWSECT, and Virginia Mason, CEO of UWSECT accepted the donation.
After adding the donations made from Electric Boat’s Employees’ Community Services Association, a total of 2.2 million dollars was raised at Electric Boat for the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut in 2018. An additional $26,850 in donations was raised by EB retirees.
These funds will go through United Way’s Allocations process, where volunteers from Electric Boat and the surrounding community will help to review local non-profit organizations and disperse the funds in a way that will best help the community.
