From now until December 12, you will find a Giving Tree in the cafeterias of the Groton and New London Site Atrium areas for the purpose of collecting hats and mittens for children in the local area who need warm winter clothing. Blankets have also been requested this year, which will be collected under the tree.
All items placed on and under the tree will be distributed to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center in Stonington and Safe Futures located in New London; both United Way partner organizations. The items will go to children who might otherwise not have sufficient warm clothing for the upcoming winter season. There will also be a box located next to each tree for peanut butter, jelly (plastic containers only please) and cereal for the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center as they are in desperate need of these items.
