EB employees were among those honored at the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut's annual Community Celebration Aug. 19, 2026, on the Sun Patio at Mohegan Sun.

This year, the Electric Boat Employees’ Community Services Association (EBECSA) proudly celebrates its 75th anniversary.

EBECSA was founded in 1951 by EB employees who wanted to create a dedicated, organized way to support nonprofit health and human service agencies in the communities where we live and work.  What began as a small employee‑driven effort has grown into one of the most enduring and impactful charitable organizations in our region.

Giving Thanks

For 75 years, everything EBECSA has achieved is thanks to the people of Electric Boat. Through voluntary payroll donations and thousands of hours of volunteer service every year, employees have empowered EBECSA to support hundreds of programs promoting health, safety, stability and opportunity for individuals and families in need.

“The strength of EBECSA lies in its ability to bring people together. Year after year, employees rally behind campaigns that provide vital resources to partner agencies, most notably the United Way and its vast network of programs supporting community health and human services,” said Shawn Coyne, EB Director of Public Relations & Community Engagement. “Even in the most challenging times its volunteers have stepped forward with unprecedented generosity to meet rising needs, provide food security and sustain critical programs when the community needed them most.”

From annual fundraising drives and charitable events to hands‑on volunteer activities that support local agencies, EBECSA’s impact is felt across the region and beyond. The association’s work reflects what makes Electric Boat’s workforce extraordinary: the instinct to help, the willingness to give and the heart to serve.

Nominate EBECSA Volunteers

As we honor 75 years of EBECSA, we celebrate the employees, retirees, friends and family members whose dedication has kept this organization thriving for generations. EBECSA demonstrates what a caring, committed workforce can accomplish—and its legacy of service will continue shaping our communities for decades to come.

As part of the 75th anniversary, we are looking to recognize 75 of the amazing volunteers who have contributed to EB’s culture of giving over the years. This accomplishment would not have been possible without the people of EB who consistently show up, roll up their sleeves and do the work to build a strong, healthy community. We invite you to nominate any EB employee or retiree who has stepped up to help our community through volunteering, including yourself. Nomination forms can be found here and are due Sept. 12, 2026. Winners will be selected by the EBECSA campaign committee; therefore, committee members are not eligible for nomination.
