The health and safety of our employees is our number-one priority. Concern regarding the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve daily. We are closely monitoring the situation and, as reported earlier this week, have already taken action based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other public health experts. A cross-functional team is meeting daily to provide the senior staff updates on new information so that we can take any additional appropriate and timely steps to protect our workforce.
Based on the latest conditions in the region and to further reduce the risk of exposure to our coworkers, our families and the surrounding communities, we are taking the following additional steps:
• Postponing Technical Excellence Week 2020, scheduled in New London, March 16 – 20
• Postponing the Quonset Point Health Expo/Health Fair, scheduled March 25 – 26
• Closing the Fitness Centers in Groton and New London for 30 days. Payroll deductions for memberships will cease until the centers re-open.
• Scaling back all classroom training to only those deemed absolutely necessary, i.e. maintaining qualifications. If you are scheduled for classroom training, please check-in with the organizer for the status.
The above measures are taken to increase the physical space between people, which is one of the best ways public health experts say we can help to slow the spread of the virus. At this time, in your daily life, at work and in the community, try to maintain a distance of six feet from others when possible to help limit possible exposure and spread of the virus.
Please continue to practice self-protection by following guidance from the CDC. The EB Health Services team is available to answer any additional questions or address any concerns you may have. They can be reached in Groton at (860) 433-3470 and in Quonset Point at (401) 268-2244.
We will continue to monitor and respond as the coronavirus situation evolves. I will keep you updated if there are any additional forthcoming changes to our business. The Homeport coronavirus page is the archive for EB messages and additional resources, including links to the CDC, Connecticut and Rhode Island Departments of Public Health.
Thank you for continuing to do your part to keep our communities safe.
Stay Well,
Kevin Graney
