November 19, 2025

Electric Boat employees who live in and have licensed childcare in Connecticut, and who work in New London County, are eligible to apply for the new CT Tri-Share Pilot program created to support Connecticut families. Through this year-long pilot program, the cost of childcare is shared equally among the State of CT Office of Early Childhood, the employee, and Electric Boat. It is expected the pilot funds will last no longer than 12 months.

Requirements to Participate in the CT Tri-Share Pilot

  • You must be an active employee at GDEB.
  • You must live in and be using a licensed childcare provider in Connecticut.
  • You must work at an Electric Boat location in New London County.
  • You must meet household income requirements:  cannot exceed 150% State Medium Income (SMI) (see attached flyer for details and examples).
  • Funds can be used for one child per household.
  • Child must be younger than 13 years old.
  • You cannot be using any other childcare subsidies, such as Care 4 Kids.

How to Apply

  • Set up an FSA dependent account during upcoming annual enrollment Nov. 19 through Dec. 5—while highly recommended, it is not required.
  • Complete an application through LEARN. LEARN will determine eligibility of all Electric Boat employees. Electric Boat is not involved with the selection process.
  • Once approved, LEARN and the State of CT will each pay their 1/3 of your childcare cost and you will be responsible for the final 1/3.
  • The amount paid by GDEB on your behalf will be reported as taxable earnings on your paycheck.
