I am pleased to announce that Electric Boat has acquired the former Macy’s department store location in Waterford, Connecticut. This transaction as well as other recent real estate purchases and the recent wage enhancements are in support of our EB Now objective to accelerate submarine production.
Electric Boat is investing in this location in order to repurpose space within Groton’s South Yard assembly area for the Columbia program, as well as address space constraints that have resulted from Electric Boat’s growth over recent years. The Macy’s space will provide us the footprint to expand our engineering, training, laboratory and other essential off-boat work.
We will refurbish the location for our needs and anticipate employees will start working in this location as early as March 2027. We look forward to this opportunity to support our ongoing mission to deliver nuclear submarines. The Navy and our nation are counting on us.
