The Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) STEM Conference is held annually to recognize the contributions of individuals who are innovators and trailblazers in their professional careers related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). For 38 years, the BEYA STEM awards have continued to provide employers throughout the country with the opportunity to voice the accomplishments of minorities in STEM.

The Modern-Day Technology Leader Award is part of BEYA’s Outstanding Achievement Award category, and recognizes bright men and women who are shaping the future of engineering, science and technology.

Electric Boat (EB) is proud to announce that Felix Pinto is one of BEYA’s 2024 Modern-Day Technology Leaders. In this brief video, Felix shares what winning this award means to him, and why this recognition is significant to him and Electric Boat.

Felix began his career at EB in 2015 as a mechanical engineer, and has consisten​tly advanced his knowledge and expertise with increased roles and responsibilities. He is recognized as a technical leader both internally and externally, and his professionalism and work ethic has earned him a strong rapport with EB’s key customers. Felix is a key point of contact with NAVSEA, the Naval Surface Warfare Center and Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Groton. Not only is Felix sought after for his ability as a technical leader, but he is also a proactive mentor who takes on the responsibility and ownership of the development, career progression and onboarding of his assigned mentees. He is an example to newly hired engineers and provides support to ensure they feel welcomed and recognize they have an ally in him. Felix is a member of the Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Inc.

Felix and other BEYA Outstanding Achievement Award winners will be recognized at the BEYA Technology Recognition Ceremony taking place on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD, where they will be awarded for their continuous hard work and success. General Dynamics (GD) will hold a separate ceremonial dinner on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum to personally recognize winners from GD business units.
